San Francisco Print Collective
Keeping with the socialist and activist traditions, the San Francisco Print Collective formed in 2000 as a way to involve the local community in stopping the gentrification of San Francisco's Mission District. Shortly after this first campaign, the SFPC joined forces with an anti-displacement coalition and connected with housing groups involved in low-income and immigrant communities. Drawing inspiration from the Chicano Power movement and San Francisco's artists, the SFPC strives to impact the local community by taking their message directly to the street.
They currently provide a free silkscreening studio with wheatpasting supplies, contribute a mural to the Clarion Alley mural project and offer silkscreening classes as well. Since it's inception, SFPC has worked on increasing the visibility of a variety of worthwhile causes, including War Tax Reform, September 11th reactions, elections, Anti-Homelessness Coalition and the Mission Anti-Displacement Coalition.
